This
award is presented, at the discretion of the Glades Director of Football,
to any person deemed to have merited the recognition of special achievement
within any specific season. The special award remains, the sole property of
and, on display at, Glades Football Centre. The trophy was donated to the
club for initial presentation following the 2006-2007 season.
Paul
Donlon took over the management of the 2006-2007 Under 8's team, in mid-season,
at a time when the team was under extreme pressure and in a certain amount
of disarray. The inheritance was a team who already had a measure of success
but were too many in number which caused real problems in team selection and
game play. It is fair to say that the actual numbers had been increased to
facilitate the entry of two teams in the under 9's for season 2007-2008, but
the overall situation was a really difficult one. Paul took all the problems
on board and persevered taking the team to 4th in the league table in their
very first season.
